HopOn - The Dynamic Ride Sharing System
HopOn- the dynamic ride sharing system by four passionate engineers is an interesting take to the burgeoning traffic woes of Bangalore. Answering it the technical way with the aid of mathematical optimization has been their forte .Understanding the problem at grass root level -co-ordination of interested users has worked wonders for HopOn by creating a traffic of 42 % users just during their beta roll out .
"The poolers should be given flexibility in choosing their partners, time and most importantly
route. Fixing this issue by means of our app with real time management of rides is what makes
HopOn to cater not just office goers but also people going to different destinations on a daily
basis. So the demand for ride sharing and having the right solution brings in the confidence" says Vishwas from HopOn.
In HopOn, the real time location of the user is periodically updated in Database and a push
notification is sent whenever there is a match found near the driver’s location. This is done by
using the current day technology of Smartphones with GPS enabled (Android to start with and
later extend to other platforms). Hence, we not only target a segment of office goers traveling
fixed routes daily but also regular commuters who use buses/autos etc. and go to random
destinations
We see HopOn as an alternative means of transportation for every single commuter in cities.
Whenever the user thinks about taking an auto/taxi or even drive on his own to destination, we
want to make sure that he/she checks HopOn app for once just before stepping out of house to
look for the best possible and cost effective alternative - ride sharing!
With limited Beta roll out, we are reaching out to all our signed up users to test our App
(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dhl.hopon) for UI
and ease of use by sharing feedback before users can start posting rides. We are also focusing
on implementing certain unique features that will provide more value and help customers build
confidence in our system. Only after which will look for funding to expand into other cities
beyond Bangalore
