Wishpicker - A gift recommendation website

3:28 AM

     1. How was wishpicker started seems like a very cool idea? How did this concept               strike you?

While studying in Spain, Prateek was looking to send a gift back home on his parents' anniversary. There were a large number of gifting websites, but no one could actually help him figure out what to gift. Confused, and disappointed, he called up his sister back home, and asked her to go buy a nice gift from the mall. Apurv faced the same problem when he was in Mumbai, and was looking to send gifts to his girlfriend in Delhi. This got them thinking, and they realized that deciding what to gift was a problem faced by a large number of people on a frequent basis. They knew they could solve this using technology. Prateek didn't take up a job after completing his masters, Apurv quit his job in Mumbai - they both came back home to Delhi and started Wishpicker.

    2. What makes wishpicker.com unique and different than other gift recommendation         sites like that of amazon?

What is unique about Wishpicker is that it presents the best gift recommendations from across the internet – all at one place. The user can choose from a large range of personalized products, experiences (meals, getaways), vouchers, and a huge variety of quirky and funky products. In addition, we also provide products available on traditional e-commerce websites – books, apparel etc. Also, customers can filter gifts based on the recipient’s personality type, and their Facebook likes. This helps us provide gift recommendations that actually work, and is a big differentiation.

3.  How has your journey been so far and what would you like to do in the future to keep your customers coming back for more?
The journey so far has been incredible. We have been getting rave reviews from our customers. They really like that fact that someone else can do the thinking for them when they are looking to buy a gift. However, we still have a long way to go, and are being careful to not lose focus. Our focus is to make sure that a customer is able to actually find a gift when look for options on wishpicker. This is the only way we can ensure that customers keep coming back to us.

4.    What is your company composition and at what rate are you growing? How many customers do you currently have?

We are currently a team of 8, and are witnessing tremendous traction. Frankly, we were blown away with the initial response that we got. We are witnessing >100% month on month growth.

5.    With wishpicker.com what are the pain points u have answered

So far wishpicker helps you decide what to gift your loved ones. All of us face massive confusion when our mother’s birthday, or anniversary is around the corner, and we have no clue about what to gift. This is the major pain point that we are solving.
